Mattel and Fisher-Price Toy Settlement

Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins LLP ("Coughlin Stoia") is pleased to announce a landmark settlement in class action lawsuits involving over 14 million Mattel and Fisher-Price children's toys that contained hazardous amounts of lead and dangerous magnets. The class action lawsuits were filed against Mattel, Fisher-Price, and a number of toy retailers on behalf of millions of children and families who purchased or acquired children's toys that were marketed as safe but later recalled due to excessive levels of lead in the surface paint or tiny, dangerous magnets.

Under the terms of the proposed settlement, Mattel and Fisher-Price will provide monetary relief to Settlement Class Members who timely submit a Claim Form. Settlement Class Members are eligible to receive refunds for the purchase price of the toys and reimbursement for prior lead testing. If you previously received replacement toys in connection with the recalls, Mattel will automatically send you a check. Mattel and Fisher-Price will also implement a worldwide toy safety program and donate $275,000 to the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions.

From this website you can also review the attached settlement agreement (referred to as the "Stipulation of Class Action Settlement") a press release, and a list of the toys covered by the settlement.

To obtain monetary relief, you must submit a Claim Form by the deadline to be set by the Court. Claim Forms will not be available until the Court allows them to be sent out. However, if you provide us with your contact information, we will send you a Claim Form as soon as the Court permits.
